FAREWELL AT ORATIA
A very enjoyable social function was held at Captain P. Sheet’s residence, Oratia, by the Oratia Young People’s Society on Saturday evening to mark the conclusion of the W.E.A. tutorial class, conducted during the year, and also to bid farewell to prominent residents, Mr. and Mrs. Patterson and family, who are leaving the district. The president of the society, Mrs. W. S. Stone, was presented w r itli a bouquet by the youngest member, Miss Daisy Marinovich, and in expressing her appreciation Mrs. Stone outlined the valuable work done by the society, paying a high tribute to the great in-, terest displayed by Mrs. Patterson in all social functions. On behalf of the society. Mrs. Patterson was presented with two flower vases, her daughter, Miss Edna Patterson, being also given a memento. An enjoyable programme was arranged by Miss P. Sheet, including games, musical and elocutionary items. Those contributing were: Miss P. Duekering, Miss M. Cochrane, Miss V. Marinovich, Miss G. Firth, Miss Hilda Perkins, Miss P. Sheet and Mr. Mark Marinovich. Others present included: Mrs. Duekering, Mrs. E. Parkin. Miss P. Sunde, Miss D. Davidson, Miss A. Marinovich, Miss J. Beattie.
