COLLEEN MOORE TOMORROW
This evening sees the final screening at the Majestic Theatre of the Billie Dove all-talking drama of Cochin-China, “Careers,” and the supporting short talkie items. The long-awaited and widely-known First National- Vitaphone production. “Smiling Irish Byes.” in which Colleen Moore makes her first appearance in screen dialogue, will have its first local showing tomorrow at the Majestic 1 Fresh*from its New York run, where it was exhibited for weeks at 10s a seat. “Smiling Irish Eyes is to be shown at the Majestic for the first time in New Zealand. This picture all-talking and singing special, has been acclaimed as Miss Moore’s finest production, and in view of the fact that it offers the opportunity for her followers to hear her voice for the first time, it will undoubtedly draw an unusually large attendance at the theatre tomorrow. James Hall is Miss Moore’s leading man in this Irish romance. most of which was filmed in exterior settings The background for the greater portion of the Story is in the Killarnev district of Ireland, while there are brief episodes in New York as well. The popular song hits. ‘ bminng Irish Eyes” and “A Wee Bit o Love, are introduced in this A itaphone picture Miss Moore revealing unexpected taleAt as a vocalist by singing them in a delightful voice.
