FIRST ROUND CONCLUDED From Our Own Correspondent THAMES, Today. Tho first round for the Crease Cup was concluded on Saturday by Thames cricketers on the High School grounds. The points are:—Karaka, 6; City, 4; High School, 2; Tararua, 0. City gained a win from High School on the first innings. City declared with five wickets down for 144 (E. W. Wells 83, G. Twentyman 17, A. Dobson 29, A. Martin not out 10). Trevor Hoyle got five wickets for 66 runs. High School put on 59 (W. Langdon 13, W. Baker 13). T. Vangioni bowled well, and took live wickets for 24, and Wells got five for 13. In its second strike, the school put on 137 for five wickets (W. Langdon 67, T. Hoyle 34, A. Renshaw 18). Wells took two for 16. Karaka defeated Tararu in a oneinnings match. Tararu batted first, and compiled 139 (R. Cleave 38, K. Baker 3S, G. Hool 22, C. Billing 10). Three wickets for 27 was R. Buchan’s effort, J. Buchan two for 34, and A. Brokenshire two for 29. t Karaka replied witli 165 (R. Buchan 15, E. Smith 17, R. Twentyman 23, A. J. McDonald 22, S. Inglis 26, G. Buchan 15). J. A. Fox got four wickets for 31, and M. Dare two for 51.
