BANKRUPT CARPENTER

EMBARRASSED BY OLD DEBTS

From Our Own Correspondent MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday. A deficiency of £69 10s was revealed in the schedule of Edward William Woods, carpenter, of Morrinsville, who has been adjudged bankrupt. Debts owing to unsecured creditors totalled £164 10s and assets consisted of furniture £45 and shares £SO. No creditors were present at a meeting held before the Official Assignee, Mr. V. R. Crowhurst, at Morrinsville. Mr. J. W. King represented bankrupt. In his statement bankrupt said that from February to October, 1928, he had had a bad time as far as business was concerned. He was married, and had two children. Since October, 1928, he had worked steadily and had been able to pay his way. He had, however, found it impossible to pay off his old debts incurred in 1928 and to maintain himself and family. He had incurred no debts during the past year. He could not make any offer to his creditors owing to uncertainty of employment. The assignee said nothing could be done as no creditors were present. Bankrupt’s conduct appeared to have been satisfactory. He said that he would call another meeting if creditors desired it.
