NEW LYNN BOROUGH
MEETING OF COUNCIL
The raising of a. loan of £2OO to provide advances to ratepayers to install drainage was authorised at the meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council on Monday. The Mayor, Mr. C. P. Gardner, presided. The sanitary inspector reported that notice had been given to the occupiers of business premises to have their properties connected to the dx*ainage system within 31 davs. The borough inspector recommended that a white line should be placed on the Great North Road, about 30 feet from the Whau Bridge. It had been found that many motorists stopped almost alongside the bridge, making it difficult for passing motorists to secure a clear run. It was decided to inform ratepayers in Gardner Street and Hutchinson Avenue that the council had a definite scheme for improving storm-water drainage conditions in that area, and the work would be commenced as
early in the New Year as funds per mitted.
