WELSH BOXER DEFEATS N.Z. CHAMPION.—BiIIy Thomas, of Wales, won from Artie Hay, New Zealand champion, on a foul in the eleventh round of the contest at the Town Hall last evening. In the seventh round Thomas claimed that he had been hit low, but the referee, Mr. R. Meale, ordered him to boxon.
PREPARING THE DIRT-TRACK at the Western Springs Stadium for the motor-cycle racing next Saturday. A heavy board frame is dragged behind a car, smoothing out the cinders.
