FORBURY PARK FIXTURE

Good Fields Engaged

THE annual spring meeting of the Forbury Park Trott Club will claim the attention of followers of the no pastime this week, the function opening tomorrow and t minating on Saturday. Good fields should ensure keen W " tests and a successful fixture seems assured. A review ofTk first day’s card by “Abaydos” is appended.

The November carnival at Dunedin is a popular one with Southern owners and trainers and fills the bill admirably as a good try-out before the many Christmas light-harness functions. While the classes are too loose to encourage the highest grade pacers and trotters, they are of sufficient calibre to attract a large quota of those with pretensions to a more exalted degree. Consequently many will be seen out at Forbury Park, who should later be racing among the real classy performers. The good form shown by several competitors at Addington earlier in the month has entitled them to promotion, and some of these will take their place tomorrow in higher grade contests. The principal event of thfj day—President’s Handicap—has drawn a classy field, and bears a very open appearance. Several improved pacers -will be having their first run in such society, and they will add a lot of interest to the contest. Proceedings will commence with the Roslyn Handicap, a saddle heat for square-gaiters, for which a "ound lot will face the starter. Of the end lot Nancy McKinney, Avonness and Bonette are possibilities, with perhaps the first mentioned holding the best card. Wah, Kitty Patch and Nelson Prince are well placed on 24yds, and Great Way at a point further back will be at home on the dirt track. Further back Ambition, Victor Bingen and Jock Bingen are useful, but the favourites may be Nancy McKinney and Great Way. ROSLYN HANDICAP (Saddle) Of £200; 15 miles

Improving pacers are given their chance in the Progressive Handicap, and a big field of promising candidates will make it a difficult job for selectors to get on the right mark. Grand Canyon, Rey Child, Sea Mist and Napoleon are likely ones to plav a prominent part. Grand Canyon, if
