Obituary
MR. MARK HENRY MOON The death of Mr. Mark Henry Moon, late headmaster of the Mangere East Public School, occurred at his residence, Arney Road. Remuera, on Monday evening. Mr. Moon, who was 54 years of age, received his first appointment as a pupil teacher in the Thames district 20 years ago. Three years later he was appointed sole teacher at Omahu, and continued as sole teacher at several schools till 1916, when he was appointed assistant headmaster at Ellerslie School. Later he filled similar posts at Grafton Road and Avondale Schools. In July, 1925, he was appointed headmaster at the Mangere East Public School, which position he held till the time of his death. Mr. Moon was an active member of the Auckland branch of the Teachers’ Institute, and at one time occupied the office of president. He also represented the Auckland teachers on the Dominion association. Mr. Moon was a keen and enthusiastic bowler, being a member of the Mangere Club.
