Banks Easier
ALTHOUGH the market is quiet, a fair demand exists for many of the gilt-edged investments. Bank scrip is decidedly easier.

Dalgetys aro I slightly weaker, last week £l3 12s, leaving the market with no buyers, sellers £l3 12s 6d. Dominion Investment and Banking changed hands last! evening at 20s 6d. Goldsbrough, Mort are unsteady. River Plate are un- j ♦ hanged. * ’oal shares still continue to attract investors, and prices are well mainrained. Grey Valley have keen buyers at 26s 6d. Hikurangi. both ord. and v are in demand. Pukemiru have steady buyers at 71s. Renown, all -sues, aro inclined to firm. Taupiriare firm, ro sellers quoting. Westport, exdiv.. have steady buyers at 31s 6d, no shares offering. Mining is quiet, with the exception of Waihis and Mount Lyell. Mine managers report as follow: Occidental - U na.— "We have commenced crushing at McGregor’s battery; eight tons iijorn hanging-wall leader, and 16 tons from stockwork formation, and this ore should be finished during the week. Work in the mine has been confined to extending the face on the hanging-wall leader. The country rock is all that could be desired.” Hauraki.—“Sloping on the Stoekwood reef above the 400 ft level is in progress in both directions from the block rise. Three or four pounds of picked stone were selected from the same stope as produced the gold last week. Another stope from the rise has been started. The seaward face was extended 12 feet far the week, leaving a furth€*r 14 feet to reach the estimated position of the Venus reef.
