FENG AND YEN TO CEASE HOSTILITIES

Soong. to the civil war front has resulted in a sudden relaxation of the serious position of the Government forces at Hankow A temporary truce has-been de dared between the Kuominchun and the Government forces, everything pointing to a settlement of the internal war as a result of the payment of huge sums by the Government to the attackers. It is believed that General Feng YuHsiang, leader of the rebels, will receive 3.000.000 dollars, and Yen HsiShan 7.000.000 dollars if they promise to cease hostilities. The Chinese dollar at present is worth Is SJd, so Feng would receive £256,250 and Yen £640,625.
