The Care of the Car LIGHTS FOR TRAFFIC Melbourne City Council is proposing to install the American clock signalling system tor controlling traffic in Swanston Street and several other congested thoroughfares. The system consists of the installation of electric light signals at each intersection, and the lights—red to stop, orange to prepare, and green to start —are so operated that traffic is allowed to cross, or is made to stop, at each intersection in a street at the same time. STARTER WOULD NOT WORK The owner of an eight complained that everybody in town had tried to fix his starter, which refused to crank the engine except when the battery was above 1,300. Examination showed that a new flywheel band had been installed and that the Starter pinion was meshing so deeply that it jammed. Adjustment of the pinion eliminated the difficulty.
