DANCING AT OPENING OF ROWING SEASON

The opening of the Xorth Shore Ro\% ing Club season at Devonport is always a well-attended function and the postponed event on Saturday was no exception. Decorated with flags and newly painted, the club’s pavilion and the lawn looked attractive, the latter forming a vantage point for observing the finishing of the trial four racing. Dancing between times was a novelty and much enjoyed. Mrs. Lawrence bringing her orchestra down for the occasion. The president. Mr. W. Cassels-Brown, and, Mr. Alex Harris! M.P., made an appropriate opening speech, paying a special compliment to tho social committee ladies who had for over two years saved money to equip tho club with new boats. Among the ladies present were: Mrs. and Miss Cassels-Brown, Mrs. Clarke-Walker, Mrs. Rutland. Mrs. C. Farquharson, Mrs. Stevenson, Mrs. D. W. McLean, Mrs. Davies, Mrs. and Miss Townsend, Mrs. Challinor, Mrs. Mureh, Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Blomfield, Mrs. Madden, Mrs. and Miss Rosenfeld, Miss Porter, Mrs. C. Seager, junr. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea and a special rowing item was on ,4 01 d Timers’ Race,” the winning c-rew being presented with antique brass vases by the president.
