HOSKING MEMORIAL

CEREMONY AT PAPATOETOE There was a large attendance of the Papatoetoe Bowling' Club at the Pavilion on Saturday, when the George Hoskins Memorial Board was unveiled and presented to the club by Mr. S. Foss, a member of the club and cousin of the late Mr. Hosking. Among those present were Mr. J. W. Hard ley, member of the executive of the Dominion Bowling Council and Auckland Bowling Centre. Mr. A. W. Hall, M.P. for Hauraki, Mr. F. N. Waters, chairman of the Manukau County Council. Mr. T. R. Smytheman, chairman of the Papatoetoe Town Board. Mr. John Franklin, president of the club, said they had gathered together to unveil the honours board in memory of their esteemed brother bowler, Mr. George Hosking, the board was an ornament to the pavilion and an acquisition tp the club and had been designed and made by a member of the club, Mr. George Foster. Mr. Hosking had expressed his intention to co-operate with his fellow-partner and ! present such a board to the club for 'the championship pairs and his wish ! had been carried out by his widow. The Rev. T. I-I. Roseveare Mr. Hall and Mr. Hardley also spoke in eulogistic terms of their late fellow bowler. On behalf of Mrs. Hosking Mr. Foss then unveiled the board and handed it over to the club. At the request of the president the i large gathering stood in silence for one ! minute.
