RIGHT TO KEEP GHOST
CASE NOW BEFORE COURT IN BERLIN NUISANCE IN TENEMENT BERLIN, Thursday. The question -whether a tenant has a right to keep a family “ghost” is at present before the Berlin Civil Court. The “ghost” of an uncle of an 11-year-old girl, Luzie Regulski, is declared to be causing so much trouble in her father’s fiat in a large tenement building that the neighbours complained to the landlord. The latter is seeking au order for the family’s eviction. The appearances of the “ghost” are said to be heralded by loud noises, scratehings and knockings on walls and doors, while tables and chairs are said to jump about the room. The landlord claims that the noisy “ghost” has prejudiced the market value of his tenement. He asserts that, the “ghostly" business is fraud and advances the alternative plea that tenants who are accompanied by family “ghosts” should state that fact before they sign leases. The case is arousing considerable newspaper interest. The German Psychological Society is also investigating it.
