HORSES FOR TE KUITI VOLIMOND AND TAKAPUNA PLATE Special to 7 HE X TE A UOI LA. Friday. I Glonsiar is now in bettor racing? I iundition than he has hitherto been his season, and he should therefore t •un accordingly in his next start. Aliss Albyn put up a good track * ;allop last week when she finished j •ight up with Lucky Alice over live j -urlongs. .Since then she lias lightened I ]]> considerably, and may be one that : ' ill take some time before becoming ' >olid. The local horses engaged at To Kuiti :his week are Grand Arch. Ah A Vera, J-lenison. The Lamb. Hack Alairc. Ter* ■upoen, Glcnstar. Sir Russell. Crown Arch and Archeen. It is not known .vliich horses will be taken down by V. Cox and J. allace. The running it To Rapa caused an alteration in ! ?lans. Ah Wera is none the worse for racng at the Waikato meeting, while The ; Lamb is doing his track work as be- , :ore. The Lord Alultifid gelding is iow considered a capable jumper, anil is ho can still gallop, may do well for lis owner this season. Changes Made Changes probably resultant on the re llapa running arc that Crown Arch iias joined A. Cox's string, while Dainty Arch has been taken out of work and turned into her owner's paddock. The latter will probably be back to the track this season, as more than one sportsman is anxious to secure a lease jf the Marble Arch mare. Volimond will be taken to Takapuna next week and will compete in the Takapuna Plate. There are some who contend the Liiuond maro will not race out seven furlongs, but as she won over six and a-half furlongs at Cambridge last month she certainly should gallop the extra distance. Antique’s running at Te Rapa surprised the majority of local sports, and this was shown by the remunerative dividend received by the more optimistic ones. Tie had just commenced to bear a racy appearance, and as he can be further improved may rank as a good horse before the end of the season. One of the improving horses in G. A. Reid’s stable is Trig. Tie has been on the easy list for some weeks, but is again showing some dash in his work. He has no immediate engagements, and apparently is not being hurried in his preparation. Leasehold, by Acre —Elinore. was taken to Te Rapa for educational purposes, and given a sprint down the straight. lie is a very sturdily built juvenile, and judging by his track effort this morning lias some pace. He will not be raced until after New Year. Grand Arch did not race as well as expected at the Waikato meeting. In his race he hung out a good deal, and did not display his best effort. At Te Kuiti he will be ridden by X. Gill. Sir Russell is none the worse for his Waikato wins. He was on the course yesterday morning but was not worked. G. Reid lias Te Apurangi in nice trim just now, and his track work is deemed satisfactory. For a big horse the Archiestown gelding handles himself really well.
