“BOYS OF THE OLD BRIGADE’’
THAMES ENTERTAINS PIONEERS The pioneers of the Thames goldfields are regularly entertained by the Thames Old Boys’ Association, and on Wednesday evening the annual reunion took place in the Miners’ Union Hall. There was a good number of the old brigade present, but time is greatly thinning out their ranks. 1 Mr, E. Watson, president of the association. welcomed the visitors, and regretted that many of the pioneers were unable to be present owing to sickness. Mr. J. W. Danby, vice-patron of The association, expressed the pleasure it gave members to entertain the pioneers. An enjoyable evening was spent, and i a brief toast list was honoured, the j speakers being: Messrs. J. W. T’oul- ; grain, At. Bowron, J. W. Danby. E. Watson. A. Garrett, L. Griffin and W. j J. ITosking. A musical programme was | provided by Messrs. Arthur Briggs, W. Johnston, W. J. Bailey, 8. Hall and E. i Watson. Mr. J. Buchan was the ac- 1 companist.
