OLIVER BALDWIN’S MOTION ABOUT WEALTH LONDON, Thursday. | The loudest laughter heard for j many days in the House of Commons j convulsed the members this afternoon j in connection with a ballot for prij vate members’ motions, j Mr. Stanley Baldwin’s Socialist son ; Oliver was one of the successful bali loters. He stood up and solemnly j announced: “I give notice of a motion on the distribution of wealth." The member was at the extreme j corner of the back bench among the ; Socialist “left-wingers.” He immedi- ! atelv sat down without a smile and ! the whole House roared with laughter. All eyes were concentrated upon Mr. i Oliver Baldwin’s father,'the Leader of | the Opposition, who was leaning back ! in Ins seat with his feet stretched ; out against the table on the floor of | the House directly opposite the Prime j Minister, Mr. MacDonald, who, with : Mr. Stanley Baldwin, joined in the uproarious laughter. Mr. Oliver Baldwin alone took the | matter seriously.
