Obituary
MRS. M. A. MAY Airs. Al. A. Alay, one of Thames's old residents, died at her residence in Baillie Street on AA'ednesday morning. Airs. Alay was in her 94th year, and was born at St. Breward, Cornwall. In 1562 she landed in Auckland by the ship Chapman, after a four months’ journey. Three weeks after her arrival she was married to the late Air. John Kendall Alay. who had come out to New Zealand three years previously. In IS7I Air. and Airs. Alay went tu Thames in the Royal Alfred, and landed at Tararu. Air. Alay died in 3919, and of the three children. Air. AV. J. Alay, of Thames, is the only one now living. MR. T. TOTMAN Descendant of a family of farmers ;n Essex, Air. Thomas Totman, of Opaheke. has died at the age of S 4. Born at pinching field, Essex, Mr. Totman came to New Zealand with his wife and family in 3SS6, landing at Auckland. For about 3-5 years Air. Totman engaged in farming in Richmond, Grey Lynn, ami then took over the property known as Hay’s Farm at Opahek where he had liver ever since. Air. Totman is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. MR. R. F. FI. PFTERSO: Air. K. T\ 11. Peterson, who died in the Te Kuiti Hospital yesterday, had been farming in the district for several years. lie is survived by his wife and a family of ten.
