BOWLING CLUB’S ROSE SHOW
FUNCTION AT HENDERSON I The Henderson Bowling and Croquet i Club held a rose show in the Town j Hall yesterday .afternoon and evening j at which there was a record attendi mice. j The president of the club, Air. G. Y. : Canton, introduced the chairman of ; tho local board, Air. XV. IC. T. Leigh- : ton, who is a past president of the i club. Air. Leighton spoke of the good j fellowship that prevailed in bowling | clubs, and congratulated the members I of the club on the way in which they 1 had arranged the show. Mr. li. G. K. ! Mason, M.P. for Etlen, formally opened j the show. A demonstration of electric cooking j and baking was given throughout the •: show by employees of the Waitemata | Blectrie-Power Board, i The winners of the flower classes ! were: ADULTS j Decorated Bowl: Aliss Bllis, 1; Airs. Skeet, 2; Mrs. H. Wright, highly commended. Decorated Vase: Airs. Bust, 1; Airs, fekeet, 2; Air. B. Norcross, highly commended. One Light Rose: Airs. "Pook, 1; Dr. Alakgilh 2; Aliss M. Cournane, highly commended. One Dark Rose: Aliss Al. Cournane, 3; Dr. Alukgill, 2; Air. R. Norcross, highly commended. Three Roses: Miss Al. Cournane, 1; Aliss B. Cournane, 2; Airs. H. Wright, highly commended. Six Varieties of Flowers: Air. R. Norcross, 1; Mrs. H. Wright, 2; Mr. R. Norcross, highly commended. CHILDREN Buttonholes: Aliss P. Ozieh, 1; Aliss N. Alassey, 2. Decorated Bowls: Aliss P. Ozicli, 1; Miss K. Reanney, 2. Decorated! Basket: Aliss N. Alassey, 1; Aliss G. Walker, 2. FANCY DRESS Best Fancy Dress (girls): Aliss X. Banks, Rose, 1; Aliss B. Butler, Old English Lady, 2. Alost Original (boys): Alaster O. Lowe, Soldier, J : Alaster J. Hogan, i Cowboy, 2. j Numerous competitions were held ■ later in the evening, the prize-winners i being:—Airs. S. Cossey, Airs. Cook, i Airs. J. S. Laurie, Aliss A. Norcross, | Aliss Ar. Edwards, Air. T. Geldard, Air. | S. Cossey and Air. Drower. I Afternoon tea and supper was supj plied by members of the Croquet Club. ; At the conclusion of the show a mock i auction was held to dispose of unsold ! goods. Tho profits for the evening | were approximately 22 50.
