NEGLECTED CHILDREN The annual report on erphaunur matters was presented by the Rev g Griffith, orphanage secretary, showed that 110 children are cared lor in the three liomet, and Epworth Homes. Mount Albert, and Buckland Road I ionic, Epsom. About half of this number of children were admitted owing to the divoreor separation of their parents, or their desertion by one parent. It was resolved tu recommend united action by the orphanage authorities of ail denominations with a view to mort effective measures for compelling 4*. faulting parents to support tht-v children. Attention was drawn to the to* suffered by the death in Decemberla>» of Mr. A. C. Caugliey. tlic pioneer -Methodist orphanage work in New Zealand. who. in 1913. in conjunction with his sister, Mrs. W. 11. The Rev. Mr. Ernera Te Tulii. reportin- on the Maori Mission work of th* district, drew attention to the intere*: being shown in the educational wozi tf the mission, particularly the steps that are being taken to establish e school lor the training of Maori gill in domestic science and hygiene. The Spiritual Advance Committee recommended the holding of cight-dr missions in every Church by the raiaisi- r or home missionary, assisted by his nearest brethren. This wes heartily endorsed by the Synod.
