FIRE AT WAIHI

COTTAGE DESTROYED Cress Association WAI HI, Wednesday. Fir© gutted a small five-roomed cottage off Adams Street at about J 1 o'clock last night. The dwelling was owned by Mrs. A. Prole, of Union Street, and was occupied by Mr. George Zaninovich, a single man. Apart from the personal effects of the tenant, which were destroyed, there was no furniture in the building. When the lire brigade received the affirm the building was well alight, and was practically destroyed before an adequate supply of water could be obtained. tho nearest main being only a two-inch one and the pressure almost negligible. The cottage was insured for £l4O in the Royal Office. Mr. Zaninovich’s effects were not covered.
