Uockburn continued his winning sequence, when lie scored decisively in th© Onehunga Handicap, in which ;Sid August again drove with line judgment. A hard and close finish was marred near the post by Keremai becoming unbalanced and interfering with Evelyn hocamla, who looked as if she would have been second. Raima trotted one of his best races in the Campbell Handicap, and giving young Gerrard a comfortable drive, he legistered the smart time of 4.154 4-5. lielle Ax worthy and Great Parrish. *vho botli broke during the race for tha Stewards’ Landicap. fought out a desperate finish, tho mare gaining a narrow margin victory for “Tartar” Julian. Alan McMillan was right in the picture for tho last two events, winning the Massey Memorial Handicap with Machine Gun. after a neck and neck finish with Gold Dial. His margin with Te Wuhia, In the saddle heat was smaller, the Tamahere horseman gaining a head decision over Genetic© after a punishing finish. Tho result might have been different had Vanity Buy left the mark, as after being well back at the home turn, Broughton’s mount flew into third place at the end. Introductory Handicap Backers fell badly in the opening ♦ vent, for which I tang Her© £634 was a big favourite, but the winner turned >ip in the little-fancied Togo's Promise, who carried £3B, find paid a dividend approaching the half-century. Audo Spray was well backed, being entrusted with £273. Several horses failed to go off correctly. Lady Ena, To Mgutu, Colonel Thorpe and lOChacle leading cut of the straight. Wilma Dillon and Stanmoor broke at tho start, and Gold Dial went away in tlie lead from Machine Gun ami Carmel. Before reaching the straight All Bell broke and interfered with Wilma Dillon, who was pulled up. Gold Dial led past tlie stands from Machine Gun, Carmel, Free Advice, Great Delight and Stanmoor and along tlie back the order was Gold Dial, Machine Gun, Stanmoor (who made up ground well), Carmel, Dillon Huon and Free Advice. As they’ turned for home (Sold Dial was still in the van from Machine Gun, Carmel and Stanmoor. In a rattling finish. Machine Gun got up to take the first prize off Gold Dial by a neck, with Stanmoor a similar distance away third. Then canic Carmel, Free Advice, Dillon Huon and Great Delight. Manukau Handicap The withdrawal of Brutus from the saddle 'did not stop t.:ci public from making Alan McMillan's other string, Te Wahia, it warm favourite, and he was entrusted with £1,098. Spirited betting between Vanity Boy £440 and Trustworthy £393 put this pair next in order on tlie machine. Vanity Boy j failed to begin correctly and Delavan ! Bill broke up early.
