CHINESE BORDER ARMY SUFFERS SOVIET ATTACKS RESUMED Reed. 10 a.m. SHANGHAI, Monday. Following a period of inactivity, a sudden renewal of the Soviet’s warlike operations is reported on both the eastern and western sectors of the Chinese Eastern Railway. Engagements have resulted in the destruction of a portion of the railway. Soviet planes dropped 30 bombs, destroying a Chinese airdrome at; Mutangkiang. There has been severe fighting in j the Dalainor region and the Chinese I suffered heavily. Soviet aerial attacks , destroying one train. Conditions along the front are ap- j ; palling. The temperature is 30 de- j j below zero, and the Chinese j | are suffering terrible privations.
