NICHOLSON PARK CLUB The Nicholson Park Pawn Tennis Club, formerly the Mount Eden Congregational Tennis Club, held its opening celebration at its new courts at Nicholson Park on Saturday. A hearty welcome to the many guests was extended by the president, Mr. F. G. Blott, who referred to the progress of the club in recent years, and the courts were declared officially open by Mrs. Blott. The Mayor, Mr. E. If. Potter, congratulated the club on the condition of the courts and the growth in membership. During the afternoon a knockout competition was held, being won by Mr. O’Connor and Mrs. Harrison, who played excellent tennis throughout the afternoon. OTOROHANGA CLUB (From Our Own Correspondent) OTOROHANGA, Monday. There was a large gathering of tennis players at the Otorohanga Tennis Club’s courts on Saturday afternoon. \vhen the courts were opened for the season. Speeches were made by the patron of tho club. Mr. F. O. R. Phillips. and the president. Mr. A. Fleming, in which they referred to the growth and popularity of the club. Mrs. S. F. Robinson played the first ball across the net, and soon games were in full swing. The courts were in splendid condition. The new playing surface, which was used for the first time, was excellent.
