INDOOR BOWLING
A.O.F. PRESENTATIONS On Wednesday evening last at the court-room of Lodge Zealandia, A.0.F., members and friends met for the presentation of the trophies won during the past season. Chief Ranger Geo. F. Day, vice-president of the Auckland Friendly Societies’ Bowling- Association. welcomed the visitors and called upon Bro. W. 11. Drew, president of the A.O. Foresters’ Indoor Bowling Association, to make the presentations to the successful competitors. These were as follow:—Shield and miniature cups (-1). A.O.F. fours.—Bros. Wilson, Johnson, .Singer, W. Phillips (s), Henderson. Runners-up: George Jarrett, J. Griffiths, A. Hare, C. Meek is), Zealandia. A.O.F. pairs.—A. Hare, C. Meek (s). Runners-up: S. Withers, A. Pratt (s). Percentage Cup.—Court Zealandia. Champion Singles and Garrett Memorial Shield. —W. Phillips, Henderson. Runner-up: A. Pratt, City of Auckland. Bro. Drew congratulated the various winners and expressed the hope that the best teams and players would always be successful, irrespective of their membership. Bro. F. A. Harris, president, on behalf of the Auckland Friendly Societies’ Bowling Association, congratulated the winners, especially those whose consistency had resulted in their success also in the Auckland Association’s tourneys. It was particularly pleasing to see the younger members so successful. Bowling was then indulged in until supper time and resulted as follows: Burnett. Lachmore. McAneaney, Hare S. v. Davis, Jarrett, Pratt. Drew 3: Meek, junr., Port, Withers. C. Meek 7. V. Veart, Astrella, Harris G. Smith 4; Burnett Latchmore, McAneaney, Hare 11, v. Veart, Astrella, Harris, G. Smith 9; Meek, junr., Port, Withers, C. Meek 7, v. Davis, Jarret. Pratt, Drew 10. Jumuna is still held by Court Henderson, which has successfully defended it on six occasions. Court Newmarket is the next challenger. VISIT TO EDENDALE On Thursday evening last, four : inks from the L.O.L. Bowling Association paid a visit to the Edendale Presbyterian Literary and Debating Society for the purpose of introducing the game of indoor bowls. They were welcomed by the vice-president, Mr. Fulton, in the temporary absence of tliv president, who was detained at
j another meeting. Teams were selected. ; and three rounds were played. Splendid progress was made by the newlyinitiated, a number of whom, being ; outdoor bowlers, took to the game like I fish to water. After the supper ad- ! journment Bro. Harris, replying for the visitors, said that many of those present had attended almost every visit made during the last three years, often at but a few hours’ notice, and ho hoped their Edendale friends would become inoculated with the same spirit of enthusiasm, and by next year have teams to enter for the open tournament. The Rev. H. Gilmore thanked the visitors for introducing such a fine game. The president.
