TEN TEAMS THIS SEASON OPENING AT REMULRA White frocks arid ties of club colours t\ ere spurted by Auckland’s cricket girls for the first time this season on Saturday. More than 110 girls, who have taken up the game this summer, participated in the opening of the Reason ceremony and the knock-out competition. which provided a try-out f *r the championship cup to commence on Saturday next. Th© season promises to be the most successful since the girls took up 'Ticket in Auckland. The four teams, which participated in last year’s competitions have increased to ten tlis year. The new elevens include two University. and one each representing Takanuna Oiammar. Training College, All Saints* and Hockey. Addressing tl e players, toe Mayoress. Mrs? A. L>. Campbell. expressed appreciation of the substantial increase in players, who. she said, would give the game a decided impetus among girls. She referred to the fine moral effect of the game, • md the spirit of sportsmanslv. p it cngemh red. and expressed tlw hope that its tone would make itself felt in their harnctcrs.
