BLOW STRUCK OUTSIDE HOTEL STEWARD FINED £2 Resenting an objection to his bcheviour made by a stranger outside an hotel on Saturday, Charles Rainsford Matuschka took a vigorous offensive. He was arrested by Sergeant Argland, and charged at the Police Court this morning with assaulting Arthur Hayward Dowsing, and casting offensive matter. Air. Inder appeared for accused, a steward, aged 31, and entered a plea of guilty. There was an explanation for the second charge, and it was over that alleged offence that a dispute had arisen between Matuschka and Dowsing. Accused had been called a liar by Dewsing. It was accused’s first appearance in the court, and he was well thought of by the secretary of the Auckland institution where he was employed as a steward. Matuschka was fined £1 or. each charge, and an appeal for suppression of the name was refused.
