CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING
AUCKLAND GUN CLUB The Auckland Gun Club held a successful series of matches at Pakuranga on Saturday, over 20 competitors taking part. A strong breeze made shooting conditions fairly difficult, but some good scores were registered ~T . h . e opening five-bird mutch ’was divided by R. E. Farrow (26yds) D. S Ewing (26yds), E. J. Schofield (23yds) and W. C. Whitney (21yds), with the possible. The chief match, for Mr. A. E. Macredie’s trophy, provided" a very keen contest, W. c. Whitney 1} Hanigan and A. E. Brown, all on 23yds. tieing on the sixth round with ~th G possible. They divided the stakes and Aiot-off for the trophy. Brown missed the seventh bird. I-lanigan the twelfth Whitney getting his bird and rung. Ine final match was won outright by D. Stoupe (14yds), with 3 out of 10 birds. JJ. E. Knight ( 14) I Lomas (12) and A. M. Bartley (12) divided second money with S each. The next match will be held on November 27.
