POWER FOR WHENUAPAI

POWER BOARD’S DECISION At a meeting of the Waitemata Elec-tric-Power Board, held this morning Mr. J. VV. Hayden presiding, it was decided to authorise the extension o 1 a line to Whenuapai at a cost ol £ 2,300. The chairman remarked that there would be sufficient returns to make this line self-supporting and the engineer would he instructed to order the necessary material for its construction immediately. It was reported by the engineer that the Riverhead extension had been completed and supply was commenced on November 5. The new lighting standards around the Marine Square at Devonport were illuminated during the month, for which the necessary underground cables were laid. The erection of wirings and fittings for the community lighting scheme had alsc been completed and was officially switched on last Friday. According to the financial returns for the month ended October 31. the gross sales of current amounted tc £3,230, which was an increase of £l6( on the corresponding month of lasi year. The total sales of current foi the past seven months ended Octobei 31 were £43.327. as against £37.391 for the corresponding period last year which was an increase of £3.933.
