NATIVES ARRESTED

NON-PAYMENT OF POLL-TAX AT DURBAN POLICE RAID COMPOUNDS Reed 9 a.m. CAPETOWN, Friday. A police raid on native compounds at Durban resulted in the arrest of several natives for non-payment of the poll tax. The trouble is said to have fomented by Communist agents from Russia, but a native professor blames the too heavy taxation of the natives and too high a charge for beer sold in the compounds. It is anticipated that demonstrations against the native bills will be begun in January.
