THE PERSONAL TOUCH
THE QUIET CORNER 3
(Written fur THU HUN b;i the lieu. Charles Chandler, Assistant City Missioner.J I l ' PICKPOCKETS arc nut the only pcuple who believe in the personal touch. Nature herself is eloquent in proclaiming her endorse--1 i ment of this delicate intimacy. “Every blade of grass has its own drop of dew." The moon, with her silver light across the sea brings d i o pathway right to one’s feet, and sixty people along the waters edge would enjoy the same experience. Our contacts ivitli the world are separate and distinct, and the world’s approach to us is along a path especially suited to our own „ particular make-up. One man refrains from evil because of a keen sense of sports--6 manship; another because of the fear of consequences; another because n of a deep resiled for law (human and Divine); and another because ei he considers that goodness pays a higher dividend. e Some folk see God in the stars, while others hear Him in the t ceaseless plashing of tiny waves upon a golden strand. Moses saw hi Him in a burning bush :■ Elijah heard Him in the still small voice; ! Jacob saw a ladder, and Paul just the sudden flashing of a blinding ® \ light upon a country road. Imagination cannot compass the vaste „L.s or man's religious experience. For each of us there is a special s revelation —personal and intimate —divinely inspired to match the 11 I height and the depth, and the length and the breadth of our own rapacity for the appreciation of spiritual truths. j 1 ' next WEEK: TO AND FRO.
