A great feature of this show is the exhibits from the Hamilton West and East sections for the Hamilton Cup. ,md those from the country districts for the Country Cup. Another competition lor the 1- best varieties of roses tor the Doug las Cup dded greatly to the spectacular effect of the show. ft is hard to specify uny particular Movers, but the wonderful colours in the lupins, delphiniums and roses were certainly strong features in this fine exhibition. AT NORTHCOTE WOMEN’S PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE INTERESTING ADDRESSES The monthly meeting of the Northrote Women’s iTogressivc League was . Miss Hasten gave an address on the work performed by the Mayor* ss's War Memorial League in the hue klducks, in the different construction camps and also among returned men employed in lighthouses and at Niue Island. A large number of books was handed in by members for the book fund. Airs. Wood gave a resume of the work accomplished at the last meeting of the National Council of Women. Both speakers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The next meeting of the league will be the final one of the session wb^n lembers will be entertained by the president.
KING COUNTRY JOTTINGS The concluding session of the Kaj kahi euchre tournament attracted a big attendance. T’or the evening s play Mrs. G. Bell and Mr. M. Duigan I won the prizes. WOMEN'S INSTITUTE COOKERY DEMONSTRATION AFTERNOON AT ALBANY urt - th< Wai - temata Power Board, in arranging iur demonstration in cocking by electricity. the Albany Women’s Institute had a very pleasant afternoon recently. During an hour and a-half Airs. Lovell turned out some delicious dainties. at the same time explaining the working of the two electric stoves being ' used in the demonstration. With the help of some of the institute members. ! Mrs. Lovell served the good things she had made for afternoon tea. The audience was reminded of the j forthcoming loan proposal pull to extend the power. Mrs. Bruton proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Airs. Lovell ; and after a small amount of business I the afternoon’s entertainment con- , eluded.

DAPHNE KNIGHT'S PUPILS 1 Delightful dancing, the glow of coloured lights and colourful frocks made St. Mark’s Hall, Remuera, a veritable fairyland last evening, when Aliss ■ Daphne Knight’s pupils held a dance 1 recital in aid of the Auckland Hospital ' Auxiliary. Ballets and solo dances j tilled the first part of the programme, I ' 1 the latter half consisting of the fairy j ' ; scene from "A Midsummer Night --. Dream.” • ; The Crocking was most delightful I • and the play excellently interpreted. 1 ; Those taking part were:—Edna Tullett. Lulu Drysdalo, Xgaire Te Weri. s j Dorothy Steel. Olive Martin.
