Salek, of Hamilton Road, i Herne Ray. Mr. and Mrs. W. Gee are returning , to Auckland by the Aorangi on Monday ; ; morning. They arrived in Sydney j j from England by the Naldera last j Mr. and Mrs. Ansted, who recently I , arrived from India, are staying with 1 i Mrs. Bowles, of Remuera. Mr. Ansted ! ! was formerly Director of Agriculture | in Southern India. Miss Mona McKinnon, of Auckland, has been awarded first prize for a | painting sent to an exhibition in Suva. There were over 200 entries from i artists in Australia. New Zealand and i the Islands. * * » Miss K. M. bonergan, of Auckland, j who recently went to England, has been accepted for nursing service at military stations in India. Before leavj ing for India she wilt take six months’ special training in England. * * * Miss Jean Begg, general secretary of j the Y.W.C.A. in Auckland, has been i asked by the executive committee of the Pan-Pacific Women’s Conference, ; resident in Honolulu, to accept the position of international project director of the Division of Social Service, for the forthcoming conference to be held in Auust, 1930, in place of Miss Jane Adams, who is unable to accept the position this year. ENGAGEMENTS The engagement is announced of Margaret Juanita, eldest daughter of j Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Beale, of Balmoral I Road, Mount Eden, to Albert H. Proud, 1 elder son of Mr. A. B. Proud, of Ridings j Road, Remuera. • * * The engagement is announced of Dorothy .Mabel, younger daughter of Mrs.' and the late Mr. J. S. Palmer, of Dilworth Avenue, Remuera, to Walter James, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tily, of Dunedin.
