CLUBS ANNUAL MEETING The aims and ideals of th* Auekland Optimist Club were stressed by speakers at the annual meeting yesterdav. Officers were elected as follow : President. Mr. J C. Drew*. 11. s. King and C. Smith In welcoming the incoming presid nt and committee, the retiring president the Rev. Charles Chandler, spoke «■: the growth of the movement in X» -v Zealand and of the service given *»>- the Dominion president. Mr. R. A. Kenner. He appreciated having hr a associated in service w th the tin** group of men comprising lie Aiicklanu Optimist Club. The incoming president. Mr. Rennie, stressed the fact that tin club was brotherhood, the foundation principles of which were spiritual and everlasting. He said he believed optimism was the belief that the ordering of this universe. being the work of God. was such as to produce the highest good. The responsibility of untiring servi«-e in the interest of one's fellows and the development of individual friendships, was important. He believed that :f every member were to serve the club when opportunities were offered, wider service would automatically < tune. Many appropriate songs'and choruses were rendered.
