UNITED CLUB’S SOCIAL From Our Own Correspondent TE AWAMUTU, Today. A social reunion of the United Football Ulub was held at Te Awamutu on Wednesday evening. The Waipa Rugby Union's decision to limit the senior grade to four teams necessitated the merging of the United Club with Te Awamutu Club.- Mr. G. W. Mairs presided, and briefly outlined the history of the United Club since its inception. A number of toasts were proposed and responded to. Mr. J. T. Johnson presented the trophies won by the junior team during last season, congratulating the winners. The Park Shield, won three times out of five years, was handed to the eaptain. Mr. C. Bowden, and the Doyle Cup. won in 1925. to Mr. Clark, viee-ca ptain. A presentation of a silver-mounted and engraved walking-stick was made to Mr. Mairs in appreciation of his long years of invaluable service in the interest of football. Mr. Mairs was, also the recipient of an engraved miniature cup from the junior players. Mr. Wilkes, on behalf of the senior players, presented Mr. W. Whitton with a similar cup.
