FOR TE RAPA
MATAMATA HORSES Special to THE SEN MATA MAT A. Thursday. Unfavourable weather has seriously interfered with training operations during the last fortnight. This is rather unfortunate, in view of the Waikato meeting, but trainers are consoling themselves with the belief that if things arc bad here they are worse elsewhere. Matamata horses racing ill Te Rapa will include Valroe, Valstreet, Fapstone, Y’alorie, Red Comet. Prince Val, Sports King. Oscar, Yralietirc, Society Maid, Unoco, Gold Rain. Ruby Dawn, The Sun and The Jack J um per. J. Clothier has Prince Y'al. Sports King and Red Comet to represent him. The first-named has been going along all right, and there will be plenty of Matamata money to support his chances at Te Rapa. Red Comet has quite recovered from his mishap at Avondale, and should give a good account of himself. R. Mateer accepted with Lapstone, Valroe, Y'alstreet and Y’alorie at Hamilton. Y'alroe is wearing a bandage, but if he stays right will keep the opposition busy. Mateer is a painstaking trainer, and deserves all the success that convs his way. C. Carmont’s charge. Unoco. won at Cambridge, and has gone on the right wav since. Gold Rain got a second last year, at the YVaikato meeting, and will be suited in the event of heavy Seven Matamata. horses have accepted for the Hautapu Haek Handicap, and with almost half the field owned locally some stake money should come this way.
