NADIR KHAN’S PROMISES
FAR-REACHING REFORMS IN KABUL DELHI. Tuesday. The modernisation of Afghanistan without deviation from the dictates of the Islamic religion is the goal of far-reaching reforms which the new King, Nadir Khan, has outlined in a long proclamation. Nadir promises a National Assembly: equal rights; the abolition of corruption from tire public services; and a military school at Kabul to train oUlcers for a regular national army. Other points are: Trade treaties with Britain. America and other countries: the improvement of transport facilities; and assistance for trade and industry. The manufacture, sale or consumption of intoxicants is now prohibited ami offenders will receive the direst punishment. The education scheme will be discussed by the National Assembly.
