THE WIGWAM
Her* we gather, here we meet in pow wow friendly and discreet , To tan k of earth, and sea, and sky, and watch the world of men go by.
COMPETITION TIME SEVERAL interesting competitions are announced today, the short story, poetry and drawing contests being open to all members of the Wigwam, while a special aviation essay, with tempting prizes, will cause the younger Chiefs and Braves to consider the future of Hying in New Zealand. Compared with older countries, aviation in the Dominion is still in its infancy, but perhaps before many years have passed, as in America, traffic policemen will be needed to control the roadways of the air. Doubtless we shall have regular air-mail and passenger services, and the whirring of airplanes will become as familiar as the noise of trains and the purring of motor-cars along our country roads. The ‘‘Roc,” who is offering the first prize, is keenly interested in flying, and he will keep space for the two best essays in the “Airways” page which he conducts in The Sun. And now to return to purely Wigwam business. The story, poetry and drawing competitions will supply matter for the Wigwam Christmas page. Make it the best yet. Chiefs and Braves. REDPEATHER.
