TOO MUCH WHIP

(Special to THE SUX j CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. THE stipendiary stewards were intensely active today at Addington, but only as regards undue use of the whip. Two drivers, L. Berkett (Dilworth. in his first race), and W. Hughes Padlock, were each fined £5 for this offence, the latter’s breach being committed in the back stretch. It would have been more to the point had action been taken on behalf of Padlock when Ahuriri chopped right across him one furlong from home. Judging by the way the Manawatu pacer finished after this he might have been second. Apart from this the contests at Addington were clean and thrilling.
