GRAND AND LYRIC
“LADIES OF THE MOB’* The film Making the Grade," no* at the Grand and Lyric Theatres, x? refreshing. It is based on a theme that is not new—in fact, we might say tfcat at moments one is reminded of tht idea behind "The Taming of Shrew" except that in the pres** l ease it is a young lady who does tb* LonT Moran, as the litrl tc~roe» girl with whom the snobbish • oun? millionaire falls in love, proves herself a very subtle artist. Kdmurnl Lo** plays the part of the snob and gives the characterisation just the restraint necessary to put it across. The picture gets right down li * laughs from the beginning. Situad®* 5 follow in rapid order and finally culminate in bringing the high an ‘ mighty’ young snob from his supenjj* world in the clouds down to sch earth. An exciting tale of the reform!®* of a y r oung Lank robber that can out be described as breath-taking. "Ladies of the Mob.” the s cond «« attraction. Both Clara How Richard Arlen are the stars in t»* fine film.
