WILL SUPPORT ABOLITION PROPOSALS LATEST FRENCH CRAFT LONDON. Saturday. Two matters of special iuterest in coimectiou with the forthcoming Naval Yrnis Conference in London are, lirst, a report from Home that Italy will support Britain and the United States in the proposed abolition of the submarine: and, secondly, details of the new French giant submarine Surcouf, which will be launched on November She " ill be nearly 1,000 tons larger - than Britain's XI. The Surcouf can barge I! torpedoes simultaneously. She is armed with four sin guns, and also carries a small seaplane. The Surcouf has a surface speed of 19 knots, and of 1- knots submerged. Silo has a range of 13.001* miles without refuelling.
