PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD
The chairman, Mr. James McColl. presided over the regular meeting of the Papakura Town Board last evening. A resident at the end of the concrete on the southern boundarv at Papakura wrote asking the board to erect an electric light there. The board decided to erect a light at both boundaries, north and south, and as this would benefit largely the travelling public rather than local residents, it was also decided to write to the riding members of the respective local county councils and to suggest that they should contribute to the cost of these two lights. A proposal to convert a certain portion of Stanley Buildings into flats met with opposition from Mr. T. C. Thompson. health inspector, on the grounds of drainage difficulties. The board resolved to refer the question to the works committee. The board agreed to an application from the Public Works Department to supply two camps in the Hunua Gorge with water at a cost of Is 3d a 1.000 gallons. A refuse clean-up week was authorised to take place this month. The recently-acquired portion of Kirk’s Bush as a scenic reserve l»v Messrs. Willis Bros, is to have the bank along its frontage battened. During the operation of the Daylight Saving Act it was decided to meet at S p.m. instead of 7.30 p.m.
