ENGLISH LEAGUERS WIN
AUSTRALIANS DEFEATED IN TEST MATCH LONDON, Saturday. In the League football test match at Leeds today, England defeated Australia by 1) points to 3. The winners scored three penalty goals and one try, and the losers one try. A thunderstorm had made the ground sodden. There were 31,000 spectators, and the gate receipts were £3,579, only <£l2 short of the English League’s test match record. The winner’s tactics won the match and their defence was sound.
