FLOOD RISK

Helensville Road Under! Water A.A.A. ISSUES WARNING Heavy rain falling from an early hour this morning is causing water to rise in various districts. The Helensville Road is now under water. This warning is issued by Mr. R. E. Champtaloup, touring manager for the Auckland Automobile Association, who is watching closely the effect of today’s wet weather on the roads throughout the province. This morning telegrams were pouring into the inquiry department of the A.A.A. from all centres. According to these advices, received from every quarter from Tauranga and Whangarei to Lower Waikato, rain is falling steadily throughout the province. All clay roads are in bad order, but metal roads are still carrying traffic and up to midday no floods had been reported. A message received at 2.30 p.m. stated that the Helensville Road is now under water, and is impassable at Rewiti. The water is also rising quickly at Waimauku.
