POPULAR COUPLE
CEREMONY AT OHAKUNE BROUGH—SMITH A wedding that created much interest was solemnised at St. John s /Church, Ohakune, on. Thursday night, when Miss Susan Smith, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs.' J. F. Smith, was married to Air. Leonard Brough, second •on of Mr. and Mrs. Brough, of Kakahi. The ceremony took place at 6 p.m., the Rev. J. H. Datson being the officiating minister. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by her sister. Miss Fanny Smith, and Miss Irvine, of Marton. Air. A. Roseoe was best man and Mr. S. Allen groomsman. The bride looked charming in a cream satin frock, with an overdress of lace, and diamente trimmings. Her veil of silk tulle, which also formed the train, was held in place by a coronet of orange-blossoms and pearls, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of carnations, roses and maidenhair fern. The little flower girl, Peggy Hood, of Wellington, cousin of the bride, wore a lavender bodice, with silk tulle frilled skirt finished with small posies. A head-dress of rosebuds was worn and she carried a posy to match. The bridesmaids were wearing lavender satin with diamente trimming, and lavender silk head-dresses finished with diamente. They also, carried bouquets to tone. After the ceremony a reception was hfld at the Majestic Theatre, where the* bride's mother received the guests in a frock of beige georgette and silver lace. Mrs. Brough, the bridegroom's mother, wore navy blue crepe de chine and hat to tone. The large number of presents testified to the very high esteem in which the bride and bridegroom are held by a large circle of friends. The bride's travelling dress was a lawn ensemble suit witn hat to tone and a cream fox fur. Among th,e guests was the bride’s grandfather. Mr. Wright, who made the journey from Napier to do honour to the occasion. Others present were: Mr. and Mrs. Graham. Mrs. C. Hood (Wellington). Mr. and Mrs. Wright (Napier), Mrs. John Hood (Wellington, Mrs. D. Smith (Paekakariki), Mrs. A. Brough, Miss Brough. Airs. Dana her, Mrs. Cornish (Wellington), Miss Downie (Taihape) and Mrs. Foley (Raurimu).
