WAIHI SWIMMING

From Our Own Correspondent WAIHI, Today. Notification that the South Auckland Centre had allotted the 220yds championship to Waihi was given by the hon. secretary, Mr. D. McPherson, at a meeting of the Waihi Swimming Club. Mr. McPherson said it was some years since a championship event had been staged in Waihi and the allotment of such a race to the club this year would mean a big attendance at its carnival. Subject to the completion of necessary repairs, it was decided to have the official opening of the baths today week, November 16, and it was also decided to make representations to the Borough Council that better lighting be provided and that the aj)proaches to the baths be improved.
