WORK ON RAILWAYS HIGHER RATES OF PAY THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Today. When the House of Representatives met at 11 a.ra. this morning the Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Public Works, replying to the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, stated that in an endeavour to find employment for all men out of work, a number of men, who were not regular railway employees, had been placed on the South Island main Trunk work for a period under relief conditions he added, that if these men were retained on railway work they would be paid wages on the same basis as regular employees. The House adjourned at 11.15 till ringing of bells.
