ATTEMPT ON SWIMMING TIME
COMBINED CLUB CARNIVAL Ponsonby and University swimming clubs are combining to hold a carni- ( val at the Tepid Baths toward the end j of this month. A new feature to be introduced by the carnival will be the large percentage of events open to members of all affiliated clubs. Of the ( 12 events on the programme, 11 are , open. Another attraction will be the attempt by Gordon Bridson, of Grammar club, to lower a New Zealand distance record, possibly the quartermile time. The one race exclusively for members of tlie Ponsonby and University clubs will be a 50 yards : event. Other races include a 100 yards j men’s handicap, with a limit of five j seconds, and an invitation men's relay for teams of six.
