LEMON DEMAND BETTER I GOOD STRAWBERRY PROSPECTS The approach of warmer weather has brought about an improved demand in the City Marts I for lemons, which, for a considerable time, have been selling slowly. Strawberry supplies are increasing and the interest shown in the market indicates an excellent season for growers. Hothouse tomatoes are selling well. A large shipment of Samoan bananas was offered today at good rates. Gooseberries are appearing and the prospects for producers are favourable. Canadian apples, with Delicious and Cox’s bringing up to 20s a case, are selling easily. Local pears are in good demand. Vegetables in season are heavily supplied find there is no important change in the market. Good heavy hens and cockerels maintained their values in the poultry auction today.
