TWO SLY-GROGGERS CONVICTED BEER UNDER COUNTER Two sly-groggers were charged at the Police Court this morning following raids made by the police recently. Samuel J. Polglace, a first offender, was fined £lO, and Martin Roglich, appearing for the second time, was fined £SO. Mr. R. J. Coates appeared for Polglace, entering a plea of guilty. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that defendant had twice supplied a constable with beer. He was not in a big way, but had 21 bottles of beer and three-quarters of a bottle of gin under the counter. READY FOR PARTY Said by his counsel, Mr. Sullivan, to be ready for a party which he had intended having on the Tuesday following the raid, Martin Roglich was found by the police to have 185 bottles of beer and stout on the premises. "This case ds much the same as the other, except that Roglich has been convicted before, 22 months ago,” said counsel, entering a plea of guilty. The sub-inspector said that Roglich also had sold beer to a constable. In addition to the full bottles, there were empty beer and spirit bottles found.
Roglich was given 14 days to ,pay the fine. It was mentioned that on his last appearance he had been fined £3O.
